Which famous people died of STIs, you might be asking. Well, here are your answers
1. Henry VIII died of syphillis and his son also died of it because he contracted the disease in the mother's womb.

2. Alphonse Gabriel Capone (January 17, 1899 – January 25, 1947), more popularly known as Al "Scarface" Capone, was a famous American gangster in the 1920s and 1930s, although his business card is reported to have said he was a dealer in used furniture. A Neapolitan born in New York, Capone began his career in Brooklyn before moving to Chicago and becoming that city's most notorious crime figure. By the end of the 1920s Al Capone was on the Bureau of Investigation's "Most Wanted" list. His downfall occurred in 1931 when he was indicted and convicted by the federal government for income tax evasion and sent to the notorious island prison of Alcatraz. He died in 1947 of Sometime in the mid-1930s, and at Alcatraz, Capone began showing signs of dementia, probably related to a case of untreated syphilis he contracted as a young man. He spent the last year of his sentence in the prison hospital, and was released late in 1939. After spending a year of residential treatment at a hospital in Baltimore, he retired to his estate in Miami, FL.
Capone was now a broken man. He no longer controlled any mafia interests. On January 21, 1947, Capone died of syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease, which is very harmful if not treated. In Capone's case, it resulted in Capone's death at his estate in Miami, Florida.

We want to educate teenagers the dangers of STDs from a different approach. We find this video very useful as an educating tool as you can listen to songs and at the same time have a feel of those ophans who were infested by AIDs. We hope this video will touch your hearts and then, you will practise safe sex, treasure yourself and be responsible to others at the same time. So sit back and relax..there are 2 parts of the video featuring artist like U2 and Madonna.

hey all especially teenagers...we found an interview conducted by the Korea Times which they interviewed Alicia Keys. She talked about her experience in Afica and all the kids who suffered from AIDs there. It was very meaningful and we wanted to share it with you all. We hope that from the documentary she came up with, you will learn that if you are still a teenager and don't suffer from Aids you are really fortunate and that you should treasure yourself. Be responsible!

Below is the news article we found:

Grammy award-winning R&B superstar Alicia Keys is busy with a world concert tour and a budding acting career, but she still finds time to help children with AIDS in Africa. In an e-mail interview with The Korea Times, Keys talked about her documentary ``Alicia in Africa: Journey to the Motherland,'' her music and upcoming movie.Keys, co-founder of the Keep a Child Alive foundation, recently released a documentary of her trip to South Africa, Uganda and Kenya. Directed by South African filmmaker Earle Sebastian, it shows inspiring stories of children and families affected by AIDS and Keep a Child Alive's projects such as providing anti-retroviral medicine for children with AIDS.``It is a truly remarkably uplifting, inspiring and fantastic documentary, just really about the resilience and the beauty of life there. It's not something that makes you feel helpless and hopeless after you've seen it. Instead, it makes you feel totally motivated and excited,'' she said. The documentary can be viewed or downloaded for free on www.aliciainafrica.com. Keys is very passionate about helping people with AIDS in Africa, and hopes people will be inspired by the documentary and make donations. ``We're so confident that people are going to be moved by what they see that they're going to want to donate right there. I think it's a really innovative way to get people involved in what's going on and not make them feel like they're forced to donate. It makes them feel inspired to become involved,'' she said.

STD is a global issue. Not only in western countries, even in asian countries for example japan is encounting such issues.

In Japan, one of the world's wealthiest societies, awareness of the risks posed by the disease is almost non-existent among many young people, and yet their sexual behaviour is increasingly risky.
While HIV infection rates in Japan remain officially low at around 6,000, experts fear the real total could be higher, and will get a lot worse unless attitudes begin to change to a disease many Japanese believe only foreigners can catch.

Why is japan's infection rate increasing?

Poor education
"We never had much sex education at school. We were taught little about contraception, or how you catch HIV or other diseases. Teachers just don't feel comfortable talking about sex," she said.

HIV tests are being offered in Japan's clubs
Her friend, Madoka Izumi, also a high school student, agreed.
"I go to a girl's school, and we've never been able to learn what boys think about sex. They've taught us some of the physical sides of sex, but none of the emotional aspects, so we're not really prepared to deal with it," she said.
Yusuke Izumi, a university student, said: "I don't remember getting any sex education at school - we just talked about it among ourselves, about the things we did with girls."
Adults are probably oblivious about teenagers' sexual activity, Mariko said.
"Parents always think their children are different. They can't imagine them having sex or having abortions. They can only think of them studying hard at school."
By the age of 17, more than a third of teenagers in Japan have already had sex at least once.
There are other statistics which Dr Akaeda finds even more alarming. Sexually-transmitted diseases are rising rapidly among young women - a sure sign of having sex with multiple partners but without using condoms.
"Teenagers these days are very casual about sex. They're happy to have sex with anyone they meet - they use phrases like 'let's play together?'
"I gave away vouchers for free STD tests to girls, and found that 82% them were infected.
"It's incredible. I suspect a lot of them may have HIV as well."
In Japan, sex has become a freely-traded commodity, seemingly unconstrained by moral concerns.
Dozens of pornographic cable TV channels on sale here, and yet sales of condoms have been falling for several years.

Condom dearth
"We're very concerned about the negative image of condoms among young people, because it's not just HIV, but other sexually-transmitted diseases which are spreading," said Toshiaki Ishii, of the Okamoto Condom Co Ltd.
"We're trying to find ways to make them more appealing, but so far without success. I think the lack of sex education is partly to blame for this," he said.
The absolute number of people infected with HIV in Japan is still quite small - but unlike other developed countries, every year that number keeps rising.

Social taboo
Actually talking about sex to their children, though, is another matter.
"Well it's rather difficult to bring this subject up in a casual way. If I can find the right opportunity, I hope I will feel able to discuss it," said one mother.
"I think this is a subject our children are already interested in, so I guess they'll understand if we raise it with them," another said.
Young people often seem like Japan's golden generation, unburdened by the work ethic of their parents, enjoying more leisure, more affluence, more security.
In such a cosseted environment it is hard to imagine the spectre of Aids. But it is here, and they don't seem to realise.

Our group came across this website this particular day and thought of sharing these things we learnt with you people. EXCITED?!
Do you know that STDs might not only concern the victims who were infested? Less fortunate victims of STDs might also carry a child after their sexual intercourse and when the child is born, they are also infested with STD. Can you bear seeing an innocent child who is infested with such terrible disease that can ruin his life when he did nothing wrong in the 1st place? Thus, lets all practise safe sex yeah? Let's be responsble towards ourselves and to others.

A FACT:
Worldwide, it is estimated that more than 15 million children under 18 have been orphaned as a result of AIDS. Around 11.6 million of these children live in sub-Saharan Africa.1 In countries badly affected by the epidemic such as Zambia and Botswana, it is estimated that 20 percent of children under 17 are orphans - most of whom have lost one or both parents to AIDS.2

Even with the expansion of antiretroviral treatment access, it is estimated that by 2015, the number of orphaned children will still be overwhelmingly high.

As the tables below show, the number of orphans in some sub-Saharan African countries exceeds half a million, and, in some countries, children who have been orphaned by AIDS comprise half or more of all orphans nationally.

Album: E=MC2

I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like"I wish I could talk to you for awhile"
Miss you but I try not to cry
As time goes by
And soon as you reach a better place
Still I'd give the world to see your face
And I'm right here next to you
But it's like you're gone too soon
Now the hardest thing to do is say bye bye(Bye Bye [3x])Bye bye
And you never got the chance to see how good I've done
And you never got to see me back at number one
I wish that you were here to celebrate together
I wish that we could spend the holidays together
I remember when you used to tuck me in at night
With the Teddy Bear you gave to me that I held so tight
I thought you were so strong
You'd make it through whatever
It's so hard to accept the fact you're gone forever
(bye bye bye bye bye bye [3x])Bye bye
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like"I wish I could talk to you for awhile"
Miss you but I try not to cry
As time goes by

Song: Hero
Artist: Mariah Carey
There will be tomorrow In time You'll find the way And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

Song: Better in time
Artist: leonal lewis
Album: Spiritual

it’ll all get better in time
since there is no more you and me (no more you or me)
its time I let you go so I can be free
and live my life how it should be
no matter how hard it is, I’ll be fine without you
yes, I will
thought I couldn’t live without you
it’s gonna hurt when it heals too (oh oh oh)
it’ll all get better in time (oh oh ooh)
even though I rewally love you (yes)
I’m gonna smile cause I have to (yes, I do)
It’s will all get better in time (oh oh yeah)
Though I couldn’t live without you
it’s gonna hurt when it heals too (yeah ah yeah)
it’ll all get better in time (ooh ooh oh)
even though I really love you

EXPLANATION:
The above songs are the different songs we picked and have trimmed them short and arranged them into one whole song and inserted it into the video. They are arranged according to the story we mentioned earlier about a girl who gave herself to a guy and ended up a STD victim.

The Story behind the video...

Jerome and Madeline (Made up) were invited to a BBQ party. They were introduced to each other via a friend. They exchanged phone numbers and were the last to leave the party that day. Both had lots of fun. The next day, Jerome smsed Madeline. They chatted for quite a while and decided to meet up for a date. Madeline had a good impression on Jerome and decided to try out with him. He was very nice to her. He gave chocolates, presents but as time goes by he wanted more. He wanted to hold hands at first but later on he wanted to hug her and later on he wanted to kiss. Madeline was afraid of losing him, thus gave in to him every time. They worked out well for several months but one day, Jerome went to Madeline's house. Everything was going well and they were both lying on the bed watching a movie when things started to turn. Jerome started to do intimate moves on Madeline. She knew what he want and she felt that it was ok wince her friends are doing the same things. She did not reject neither did she use any protective measures. She also did not know that Jerome had Syphilis. Until one day, when she noticed sores on her mouth and genitals. It became so painful that she went to consult a doctor. She regretted her actions and her boyfriend also rejected her calls after she told him she had contracted syphilis. Her parents were also very disappointed with her when she broke the news to them. It was lucky Madeline seeked medical attention early and cured her illness.

A Short Little story on a girl meeting a guy and got infected & how she overcome it...

ENJOY!!! ^^

HandWritten on; 8:50 AM

Okay so by now you all should be weary of having unprotected sex.

Or at least a little.

SO THE BEST WAY TO KEEP YOURSELF SAFE IS NOT TO HAVE SEX!

But we are supposed to teach you some contraceptive methods, so there.

CONDOMS

- worn *mostly by the guy during sexual intercourse with another girl (or his sex partner) to physically block ejaculated semen from entering his partner.

- used to prevent sexually transmitted infections and pregnancies.

- good method, but not 100% safe as condom might break if things get too heated up.

*there are also female condoms available, though usage of male condoms
are more widely practised.

source from wiki:

Proper usage entails:

- Not putting the condom on too tight at the end, and leaving 1.5 cm (3/4 inch) room at the tip for ejaculation. Putting the condom on snug can and often does lead to failure.

- Wearing a condom too loose can defeat the barrier.

- Avoiding inverting, spilling a condom once worn, whether it has ejaculate in it or not, even for a second.

- Avoiding condoms made of substances other than latex or polyurethane, as they don't protect against HIV.

- Avoiding the use of oil based lubricants (or anything with oil in it) with latex condoms, as oil can eat holes into them.

- Using flavored condoms for oral sex only, as the sugar in the flavoring can lead to yeast infections if used to penetrate.

After writing so much, my message is:

USE A CONDOM WHEN YOU HAVE SEX.

thankyou :)

hey hey.heres a little poem for you!

it was love at first sight
hand in hand we held tight
i once bought you a tie
which cost a hundred and nine
you always tell me lies
maybe to me love was blind
i forgave you every single time
but whenever my heart sigh
where did your heart fly?
discos, bars, and everything nice
but my heart never die
i kept faith untill that day
you fell in love with another name
you kiss goodbye
and left me red-eyed
doctor said i caught STI*
but you never was on my side
i cried, i wept, i was terrified
but my parents and friends helped me see the light
now, i am better in time
never will i miss you again
never will i kiss you again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*STI is another name for STD.it stands for Sexually Transmitted Infections.
so nice right? this poem was written by one of us(there are 6 of us.remember?). i got touched by it right after i heard it. so you would be too!! do you know that this is a story too?? hahas.it is actually talking about this girl who ''fell in love" with this guy. they then had sex. but, rather unfortunately, the poor smitten girl caught an STI from him. the guy, instead of encouraging the girl left her for another girl!! what a big JERK! thank god for her family and friends who helped her through the tough journey. the girl has moved on since then... oh her STD was cured** too.
**yes, some kinds of STI when found out early can actually be cured.
ok.till the next post..do visit often! we promise to update regularly~

ok. This is what we found out about STIs. DONT FREAK!

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS
AIDS
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) AIDS
> first reported in the United States in 1981.
CAUSED BY:
> human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), a virus that destroys the body's ability to fight off infection.
CONSEQUENCES:
>An estimated 1 million people are currently infected in the U.S., including more than 2000 infants, most of whom contracted the disease from their mothers.
>Susceptible to many life-threatening diseases, called opportunistic infections, and to certain forms of cancer.
TRANSMISSION:
>Occurs during sexual activity and by sharing of needles used to inject intravenous drugs.

Chlamydia
Chlamydia infections
> the most common of all STDs
> an estimated 4 million new cases occurring each year.
CONSEQUENCES:
>In both men and women, Chlamydia infection may cause an abnormal genital discharge and burning with urination.
>In women, untreated Chlamydia infection may lead to PID, one of the most common causes of infertility in women and of entopic pregnancy.
SYMPTOMS:
> Few or no symptoms of infection.
TREATED BY:
>An antibiotic drug.
(but doesnt mean its ok to contract it)

Genital Herpes (Herpes Simplex Virus)
Genital herpes
> affects an estimated 30 million Americans.
>Approximately 500,000 new cases of this incurable infection develop annually.
CAUSED BY:
>Herpes simplex virus (HSV).
SYMPTOMS:
>Painful blisters or open sores in the genital area.
> May be preceded by a tingling or burning sensation in the legs, buttocks, or genital region.
>The herpes sores usually disappear within 2 to 3 weeks, but the virus remains in the body and the lesions may recur from time to time.
TREATED BY:
>Acylovir,an antiviral drug available by prescription.(Severe or frequently recurrent genital herpes)
HOW?
>Control the symptoms but does not eliminate the herpes virus from the body.
CONSEQUENCES:
>Women who acquire genital herpes during pregnancy can transmit the virus to their babies. >Untreated HSV infection in newborns can result in mental retardation and death.

Genital Warts
Genital warts (also called venereal warts or condylomata acuminata)
CAUSED BY:
>virus related to the virus that causes common skin warts.
SYMPTOMS:
>First appear as small, hard, painless bumps in the vaginal area, on the penis, or around the anus
>If untreated, they may grow and develop a fleshy, cauliflower-like appearance.
CONSEQUENCES:
> Genital warts infect 500,000 Americans each year.
> Scientists believe that the virus responsible for genital warts also may cause several types of genital cancer.
TREATED BY:
>A topical drug (applied to the skin)
>Freezing
Or if they recur,
>Injections of a type of interferon.
If the warts are very large,
>Surgery.

Gonorrhea
>Approximately 1-1/2 million cases of gonorrhea occur each year in this country.
SYMPTOMS:
>A discharge from the vagina or penis and painful or difficult urination.
CONSEQUENCES:
>PID
>Entopic pregnancy
>Infertility.
TREATED BY:
>Penicillin
Penicillin-resistant forms of the bacteria,
>Other antibiotics
> Combinations of drugs

Syphilis
>Increased dramatically in recent years
>More than 130,000 cases reported in 1990.
SYMPTOMS:
>First symptoms of syphilis may go undetected because they are very mild and disappear spontaneously.
>Chancre, a painless open sore that usually appears on the penis or around or in the vagina.
CONSEQUENCES:
> Go on to more advanced stages
>A transient rash
>Eventually, serious involvement of the heart and central nervous system.
TAKE NOTE:
The full course of the disease can take years.
TREATED BY:
>Penicillin

You risk contracting these diseases having premarital sex, so don't do it!

hey everybody! we are a group of students from holy innocents high school. we created this blog to let all you people out there to know more about sex and its so-called 'bad' points. the topic of 'sex' has been avoided by parents of teenagers as they think that it is "weird", "not suitable" and maybe even "shameful"! so, there has been a rising number of teenagers contracting Sexually Transmited Diseases or STDs for short. this shocking revalation may be due to lack of knowledge about this topic resulting in the teenagers' curiousity about it. getting back to our introduction, we created this blog in hopes of being able to play a part in lowering down the number of teenagers contracting STDs.oh, there are also a total of 6 members in our group, whereby each of us will post alternately. in time, you will be able to guess which is whose writing style.but, unfortunately, there are no prizes for the person who guesses correctly who is who! sooo, do look out for us. recommend us to your friends! spread the link of this blog around! we will be glad to receive as many views as possible.
